Good Weather = Camping!!

At the end of April, Scott was able to take some leave because it was in between classes, therefore, we were able to take a camping trip to Hunting Island (which is 1 1/2 hours from Savannah, GA). We got there Monday afternoon, set up camp and put on our bathing suits and headed to the beach (a 1 minute walk from our campsite). Lily ran straight for the ocean and loved it until she got knocked down by a few waves. But we did find a live sand dollar in one of the tide pools and there were lots of doggies there for Lily to run after and laugh at. By the way when we were almost to Hunting Island we realized that we forgot our camera, so we had to buy a disposable one (not very good quality of pictures).

The next day we made pancakes for breakfast (however, we forgot the syrup!!!) and got ready (they had showers by the campsite), then left for Savannah.

When we got parked we jumped on our trolley, but it wasn't the ride we thought it was . . .you had to sit through a 90 minute tour and then you were able to get on and off of it. So, Lily was not happy about that especially since she would have to sit on our laps the entire time . . .Luckily the trolley made a stop at the Cathedral and we were able to get off and not finish the tour.

We then walked around (Historical Savannah is made up of squares and each square had its own park) and ended up in Chippewa Square where Forrest Gump sat on his bench waiting for his bus - hence the picture below . . .me and Lily are posing like Forrest Gump.

Later we made it down to the river where they had old river boats with the big wheels on the back.

These were taken our last morning at camp - we already took down the tent, but you still get a feel of it. Camping among palm trees...

Lily has her own camping chair :-)

On our last day on Hunting Island we went and visited the lighthouse (built in 1875) they have and got to climb like a billion stairs (which I was feeling the next day in my calves and thighs).

Lily wasn't big enough to climb up the lighthouse, but she got her own picture with it ;-)

And of course we had to get a picture of the beach:

And finally we made it home, but Lily still wanted to go run and play outside.

That was our adventure to Hunting Island . . .we definitely recommend going there for camping, but make sure you bring bug spray and and long sleeves and pants (for the dusk to night time).
