I recently spoke to a friend and she made the comment that I hadn't posted for awhile, so here I am . . . posting. But, we have had a very busy, busy schedule. Earlier this month, Scott was called as Young Men's President (he's over the young men at church, for those who don't know what I'm talking about). So, it's been a struggle getting used to having a large calling on our hands, but we're adjusting - especially Scott as he's trying to balance work, family, and church but he's doing a fabulous job (he's so patient).
Lily and I have been trying to stay cool as the weather continues to become almost unbearable unless you're in the water. We've found new things to do in the house, but also enjoy watering the garden and other flowers (well, I'm doing the work while she plays in the water), and we go to the park with fun sprinklers to cool off in. Our garden is doing pretty good; we've slowly started getting tomatoes as well as lots of basil, and soon our corn, potatoes, crook-necked squash, and peppers will be ready to harvest. It's so fun growing our own food. Nevertheless, Lily and I do run out of things to do and we give in to the TV where she enjoys the movies Cars, Finding Nemo (or "Nemo"), and 101 Dalmations (or "Doggies").
Lily's vocabulary is getting amazing, she understands so much and is becoming quite the helper around the house (when it's not around nap time). At her 18 mth check she was officially 20 lbs (but still at 3%) and she's hit the 25% in height and 50% for head size . . . so she's skinny, tall, and intelligent - absolutely perfect!
We also had the enjoyment of having Scott's parents in town this past weekend. We did a lot of sight seeing, but we loved having them here (pictures are below with more about the visit).

One morning we found this moth on our glass door . . .it was a little bit bigger in person.
Lily thought it was really fun to put on daddy's shoes and walk around in them.
At bath time we thought it would be great to see how she would look like with a mohawk . . . look at all that hair.
So, when the family came to town we did so much sight seeing (and all in this wonderful 90 degree and muggy weather). On Friday we went to Fort Sumter, Old Exchange, and walked around downtown. Saturday, we went to Boone Hall Plantation, Fort Moultrie, and the beach. Monday, we traveled to Cypress Garden, the museum of the H.L. Hunley, and Charles Towne Landing.

One of the slave houses. There are only 9 left, but at one time there were 27 houses and 12-16 people lived in them. This house is called the Gullah Theatre . . .we got to see a presentation by a lady who told a story in Gullah and then the same story in English, then we got to sing and see a few people get embarrassed in front of the whole group.
This is at Cypress Gardens. We went on a boat ride and this is how close we got to an Alligator (he was about 4-5 feet long).

Wow! Sounds like you guys have been busy! I look forward to eventually having a yard where we can grow a real garden too (rather than a few potted plants like we have now.) And the alligator picture reminds me of all the alligators we always saw where we lived in Texas. We used to go to the Brazos Bend State Park. There were alligators all over there, and it was always fun to see them.
